Founded in 1968 and commissioned by the City of Pine Bluff in 1971, the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas operates a 22,000-square-foot facility (built to AAM accreditation standards) which includes a vault, four galleries, a 232-seat theatre, classroom space, administrative offices, etc. Programming consists of collections, exhibits, education, performing arts, special events, fundraising, etc. To better address the Center's regional constituency, emphasis is placed upon collecting works by African-American artists, Arkansas artists, and artists living/working in the southern region of the U.S
