Thursday Jazz: Clyde Pound Trio + Earl Hesse and George "Doc" Ryan at Ohio Club
Each Thursday (7-10 pm) there is free, live jazz upstairs at The Ohio Club, an iconic venue established in 1905 across from Bathhouse Row in historic downtown Hot Springs (Hot Springs National Park). Food and beverage service is available throughout the evening. Each week a different special guest performs with a trio led by pianist Clyde Pound. On 18 January 2018, the trio (Clyde Pound on keys, David Higginbotham on upright bass, Paul Stivitts on drums) will be joined by 2000 Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Earl J. Hesse (clarinet, sax) and George "Doc" Ryan (cornet). Hesse is briefly profiled under "Hall of Fame: 2000" at arjazz.org. Other photos/info for performers may be found on the Hot Springs Jazz Society's Facebook page and/or website (hsjazzsociety.org). An annotated album titled "The Ohio Club" is posted under "Photos" on the Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation's Facebook page. Info and a local map for the venue (theohioclub.com) are provided via a link at the top of this Jazz Near You entry, which can be shared via e-mail/other social media.
